HP Unveils Most Natural All-in-One Touch PC Experience.

Beats Audio special-edition all-in-one PC offers bold design, premium sound.

PALO ALTO, Calif. — HP today announced the HP ENVY Recline All-in-One PC series, offering the best, most immersive touch experience available on an All-in-One PC.

With an innovative product design, HP’s new All-in-One PCs allow users to pivot the touch screen lower and closer, making the interaction more accessible and comfortable.

“Customers have told us that they want touch on their PCs, and at HP we’re always looking for ways to improve the experience,” said Mike Nash, vice president, Product Management, Consumer PCs and Consumer Solutions, HP. “HP’s family of reclining all-in-one PCs offer new ways to stay productive and enjoy immersive experiences such as movies and games with the most natural touch experience available.”

Immersive touch PCs look great, sound great, feel great
The HP ENVY Recline23 TouchSmart All-in-One PC and HP ENVY Recline27 TouchSmart All-in-One PC, HP’s most immersive touchscreen PCs, feature 10-point touch and a revolutionary adjustable design that allows for a more comfortable experience and greater control than ever before.

An HP study revealed that while using touch screens, an overwhelming majority of people preferred their screen in a low and close position for 100 percent of touch-related tasks.(1) The HP ENVY Recline series meets the needs of touch users with a full high-definition (HD)(2) IPS touch screen that responds to all 10 fingers at once, and a unique hinge that allows the screen to be repositioned with ease. The hinge enables the screen to seamlessly move below the table and closer to the lap for a natural touch navigation position, or it can be adjusted upright for traditional use and to watch movies.

Both the HP ENVY Recline23 and HP ENVY Recline27 TouchSmart All-in-One PCs are equipped with 4th-generation Intel® Core™ i-series processors and NVIDIA discrete graphics to help users with the most demanding tasks. The HP ENVY Recline27 also features Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to let users share photos, contacts and URLs with a simple tap.

Additionally, HP is offering a new All-in-One PC with a bold design and premium sound for entertainment and music enthusiasts. The HP ENVY Recline23 TouchSmart All-in-One PC Beats Edition features black and red accents with Beats Audio™ driven dual speakers for the best-sounding, richest audio experience available on a PC.

For 2014: LG´s smart TV with webOS platform.

Posted on 14:47 by Unknown
WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

For 2014: LG´s smart TV with webOS platform.

At the recent Streaming Media East conference in New York City, Matthew Durgin, director of smart TV content for LG Electronics, was asked if Android would ever find a home on LG sets.

"Not that I can see, to be frank with you, Durgin said. "I think that LG's TV platform has evolved to the point where it's become a very strong differentiator for us in the market. We do have a motion remote which actually has a better experience than most smart TVs out there.

Also, we've recently made an investment in WebOS. We purchased WebOS from HP. Now we have  a development team in Silicon Valley who's developing for the 2014 platform using WebOS."

HP stills thinking on a smartphone

Posted on 16:03 by Unknown
WorldWide Tech & Science.- Francisco De Jesús.

It is very hard to know if  HP will come out with a new webOS smartphone maybe an LG´s at this time. Rumors have said HP is more alike to launch an Android

However HP´s CEO Meg Whitman says:

"Being late you have to create a different set of propositions. There are still things that can be done. It's not late. When HP has a smartphone, it will give a differentiated experience."

When asked about a chances of a future HP smartphone, she said: "The answer is yes but I cannot give a timetable. It would be silly if we say no. HP has to be in the game."

How HP is going to give a differentiated experience, you might have some:

1.- Low Cost
2.- Better software helpful apps than the competition.
3.- webOS resurrected much better.
4.-Better hardware

OMG The webOS Windsor 4 inch slate smartphone that never was in pictures.

It was the next step in the evolution of webOS 3.x, and a gambit to move webOS smartphones into the same space of consideration as Android and iPhone.
But in the end, it was none of those things. The Windsor (Not) never stood a chance of making outside the doors of the webOS campus in Sunnyvale. Too many factors conspired to keep this device out of the hands of customers new and old.

The Windsor (Not) isn't just the webOS slate smartphone that never was. It's the webOS slate smartphone that was never meant to be.

However we would have liked to have it. Don't you.

HP returns to webOS tablets.

Posted on 11:50 by Unknown

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesùs.

HP has resumed development of webOS tablets

HP returns to WebOS tablets

Mar 28, 2013 (Menafn - Bangkok Post - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --Hewlett-Packard (HP), the world's biggest computer maker, has resumed development of WebOS-based tablets in Thailand to capitalise on the high-growth segment and boost revenue.

WebOS is a Linux-based operating system developed by Palm and later acquired by HP and then LG Electronics.

HP terminated its WebOS TouchPad tablet in 2011 due to slow sales. The US giant plans to launch its Android-based consumer tablet, the Slate 7, in Thailand by September at US169.

Taiwanese computer makers Acer and Asus recently launched low-cost tablets priced at 3,900 and 4,900 baht.

Thitaphon Boonprasit, director of printing and personal systems at HP Thailand, said the company is focusing on tablets as a strategic business to drive revenue growth.

Tablet sales in Thailand are expected to reach 3.5 million units this year, he said, while the local notebook market will probably see a slump or 5% growth in the best case.

HP is introducing its ElitePad 900, running the Windows 8 operating system and priced at 25,990 baht.

"We aim to be the market leader in the enterprise tablet market in Thailand," said Mr Thitaphon.

He noted the trend of businesses choosing tablets instead of notebooks as employees increasingly carry their own personal devices to work _ as many as 21% of workers at multinational firms, surveys show.

HP is targeting hospitality, health care, airlines, manufacturing and warehouses, said Mr Thitaphon.

One market research firm has said Thailand's commercial notebook market will see zero growth this year for the first time.

Commercial notebooks account for 25-30% of overall sales of 2.2 million notebooks in the country.

Mr Thitaphon said HP expects commercial tablet sales to contribute 70% of total revenue this year, with the remainder to come from consumer tablets.

HP and Samsung Launch New Mobile Print Offering

New Samsung GALAXY S 4 can easily print documents, photos and web pages directly to HP printers
PALO ALTO, Calif. — HP today unveiled a new print offering built within select Samsung devices to provide users an easy way to print directly to more than 180 HP network printer models across the HP inkjet and HP LaserJet portfolios.
The collaboration demonstrates HP’s continued investment and leadership in the mobile printing space by satisfying a common need for today’s mobile user—on-demand, customized printing from virtually anywhere.
Different from current mobile printing apps on the market, the new embedded solution from HP and Samsung requires no setup, tools, drivers or network configurations to adjust on the phone, making mobile printing effortless and convenient. In addition, the print offering is one of the only solutions to offer sophisticated printer settings and options that include duplex printing, color, orientation and paper type. By offering these capabilities and much more, this new mobile print enablement will make printing on the go easier, saving time for the mobile worker and beyond.
Print functionality will be supported with the upcoming release of the Samsung GALAXY S 4 and will be available later this year as a firmware upgrade to the Samsung GALAXY S III and Note II, enabling built-in, wireless printing compatibility.
Users can print in two ways: by automatically connecting their Samsung mobile device and HP printer on the same local network via Wi-Fi, or by using HP technology via wireless direct print.(1)
“Customers continue to look for ways to print from their smartphones and tablets,” said Stephen Nigro, senior vice president, Inkjet and Printing Solutions and Graphics Solutions Business, Printing and Personal Systems Group, HP. “This partnership with Samsung is the latest example of how HP is making it easy to print what you want from wherever you are.”
The Samsung print solution is HP’s latest feature for its mobile print portfolio that also includesHP ePrint.
The built-in print solution works in three simple steps: choose a document, photo or web page ;(2) select a printer (either on Wi-Fi or directly); and hit print. The embedded solution also offers additional, convenient print options for the user, including number of copies, paper size, orientation, paper type, color mode, double-sided printing and job completion status.
Availability and support
The print solution is compatible with nearly 200 HP printer models across the HP inkjet and HP LaserJet printer portfolios.(3)
The built-in print button will be available on many applications of the Samsung mobile devices, including: Email Client, Android Browser, Photo Gallery, Contacts, S Note and Polaris Office.

(1) Available on select models.
(2) Printable file formats include JPG, PNG, HTML, PDF and MS Office.
(3) Includes HP Deskjet, HP ENVY, HP Photosmart, HP Officejet, HP Officejet Pro, HP LaserJet Pro, HP Color LaserJet Pro, HP LaserJet Enterprise and HP Color LaserJet Enterprise.

LG to License HP IP, Integrate webOS Technology into Next-Generation Devices

SEOUL, Korea, and PALO ALTO, Calif., Feb. 25, 2013 ㅡ LG Electronics Inc. has acquired the webOS operating system technology from HP, the companies announced today.

To support its next-generation Smart TV technology, LG has entered into a definitive agreement with HP to acquire the source code, associated documentation, engineering talent and related websites associated with webOS. As part of the transaction, LG also will receive licenses under HP’s intellectual property (IP) for use with its webOS products, including patents acquired from Palm covering fundamental operating system and user interface technologies now in broad use across the industry.

Today’s announcement paves the way for continued innovation on the webOS platform and on LG’s roadmap of innovative solutions for many years to come, while allowing HP to focus its resources on strategic business opportunities such as cloud computing.

“This groundbreaking development demonstrates LG’s commitment to investing in talent and research in Silicon Valley, one of the world’s innovation hotbeds. It creates a new path for LG to offer an intuitive user experience and Internet services across a range of consumer electronics devices,” said Skott Ahn, president and chief technology officer, LG Electronics Inc. “The open and transparent webOS technology offers a compelling user experience that, when combined with our own technology, will pave the way for future innovations using the latest Web technologies.”

In particular, with the cloud assets that will remain with HP, we will focus on delivering innovative solutions that will enable our enterprise customers to mobilize their workforce.”

January Edition: Open webOS: Enyo 2.2 will support Blackberry 10 and Windows 8.

Posted on 07:29 by Unknown
WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

Open webOS

January Edition: Open webOS: Enyo 2.2  will support Blackberry 10 and Windows 8.

The latest information of webOS Open Project:

New features for developers, the return of Virtualbox emulator, meta-webos to Yocto 1.3 upgraded, next release of Enyo 2.2 will include Windows 8 and BlackBerry 10 app support, and more you can read on the original post bellow:

January Edition
Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone was gifted some new hardware to port Open webOS to! We are kicking off the New Year with some new features and updates.
First off is the return of the Virtualbox emulator. In the original webOS SDK, the emulator was an important tool for app developers. Developers used the emulator to test device specific features without having to buy hardware or get early access to new devices. On Open webOS, this is even more important for developers, who would otherwise have to worry about what hardware Open webOS is ported to. If you are an app developer and want to know more, we did a post last month on how to useEnyo 2 with phone-gap for cross-platform apps on Open webOS.
image
This month we upgraded meta-webos to Yocto 1.3. This brings new features and bug fixes to the build process. You can read more about it here from the mailinglist. Also, we are currently upgrading thenodejs platform. Watch out for 0.8.18 hitting the node repo in the coming days.
Earlier this month we had the privilege of having Tom King (who is leading the WebOS-Ports effort) stop in to meet with us. The team are feverishly preparing for their beta release on Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7. We have established a great relationship with Tom. In his own words, “the meetings went well”, and we are working hard on clearing any roadblocks that are ahead of them. Tom left with some additional Nexus hardware for people working on the beta. If this interests you, catch Tom on IRC: #webos-ports on Freenode under ka6sox.
Over at Open webOS’s sister project Enyo, the team is hard at work on their next release. Enyo 2.2 will include Windows 8 and BlackBerry 10 app support, a Contextual Popup widget, some cool new list functionality, and a slew of other enhancements and fixes. Watch the Enyo site for updates or follow them on Twitter: @EnyoJS.
Look for the Developer Relations and Enyo team members at Apps-World next week (February 7th and 8th) in San Francisco. We have two on-stage presentations and are participating in panel about “Exploring cross platform development tools”. Stop by our booth, say hello, and stay for one of our theater sessions on Enyo — you could win some really cool hardware.
We also will be attending the Embedded Linux conference as part of the HP booth (February 20th-22nd). Also look out for our community manager Roy Sutton (@pre101) at SCaLE (February 22nd-24th)
As always your feedback is welcome and appreciated.
